Four More Additions to the Olean Hospitality Wall of Fame

The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and its Taste of Olean Event Committee have announced its fourth class of inductees to the Taste of Olean Hospitality Wall of Fame Awards program: Daniel Fessenden, Robert Styles, Tony Bassano, and Jim McAfee. The Hospitality Wall of Fame recognizes individuals and/or businesses who have made a significant contribution and given exceptional service to the food service/ hospitality industry in the past and who may continue to do so.

Event Spotlights a Wide Array of Exciting Singers, Artists and Area Tastes

Come hungry: it's time for a Taste of Olean!!   If you're looking for a way to sample some of the great food in the area all in one place, or just looking for something fun to do this Sunday, head on down to the 61st Annual Art in the Park and the 20th Annual Taste of Olean on July 25, from Noon - 6 PM (new hours this year) at the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College. The Taste Of Olean, co-sponsored by the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, National Grid Co., and GOACC’s 44 corporate sponsors provides an affordable and enjoyable festival in a socially responsible manner for families of the greater Olean area, enhances the quality of life in Olean, and promotes downtown. The Taste of Olean is a festival filled with great food and entertainment. Admission to the event is free. Pay as you eat!

Exhibitor Space NOW Available for Outdoor Sports/Rec Show

The City of Olean and the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce have announced that booths are now available for the Greater Olean Area Outdoor & Rec Sports Show September 11 and 12, 2010.  The show will encompass the William O. Smith Recreation Center, the War Veterans Park, and Bradner Stadium.  As more individuals and families travel shorter distances from home and take shorter vacations or mini-vacations, the Rec / Sports Show will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities close to home. Exhibits will include but not limited to: camping, paddle sports, hiking, cycling, all-terrain vehicles, hunting, snow and water-skiing, snowmobiling, bird-watching, fishing, health and fitness, scuba, parks, destinations, sporting equipment and related equipment and accessories.

Nominations Sought for Annual Dinner

Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce’s (GOACC) will celebrate its 105th Annual Dinner on Thursday, November 4. The dinner will recognize two local businesses and business person for their involvement and commitment to the greater Olean community.
 
The Chamber Annual Dinner recognizes those businesses and individuals that help make the greater Olean area a wonderful and caring community. GOACC will also celebrate 2010’s achievements and help kick off the Chamber’s goals for the New Year.  Nominations are now being accepted for those who exemplify the inventive spirit of community and commercial growth in the greater Olean community.  The Chamber honors an individual for the L.O.U.I.E. award and a business for the Enterprising Business award.

The Taste Ladles Up the Food, Fun and Festivities

A RACE at the TASTE! Make Haste to the Taste 5K Run / Walk

The Olean High School Sports Boosters are hosting the Make Haste to the Taste 5K Run/Walk held during the Taste of Olean. Sunday, July 25, at the Jamestown Community College, Downtown Olean. The cost of the 5K Run/Walk for pre-registered participants is $10 if received by by July 16, with a fee of $12 day of registration.

City Set For A BOOMING Fourth!

The City of Olean’s Annual Fourth of July FIREWORKS CELEBRATION is set for Sunday, July 4, at Bradner Stadium in Olean. The fireworks are organized by the Olean Professional Firefighters Association, OPFFA. The stadium gates open at 4:00 PM. Coolers and packages carried into the stadium will be checked for security reasons.

Deadlines for Menus for The ‘Taste’ful Event of the Year

Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 20th Annual Taste of Olean July 25, from new hours Noon - 6 PM on the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College  For the ‘Tastes’ segment of the event, the committee is encouraging restaurants in the Olean area to present “tastes” of foods, not whole meals or sandwiches - smaller portions with affordable costs between 50 cents and $3.50.  Deadline for restaurants to enter their menus to the Taste is Monday, July 12.

Action on the Trail
June 3, 2010
With the summer coming on, bicycles, roller blades, buggies and walkers will be even more active on the Allegheny River Valley Trail.  The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce wants to remind any organization who would like to use the trail for its function or fundraiser that it must get a permit from the Chamber.
