2019 HOME SHOW

April 12-14, 2019

Great Kickoff for Home Renovation Projects

The 48th Annual Greater Olean Area Home Show welcomed more than 1,927 visitors April 12-14 (about 563 less than last year).  Seventy-two vendors were on hand to display and demonstrate products from hot tubs, to gardening supplies, along with heating and cooling systems.  The event, hosted by the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, was co-sponsored by their fifforty-nine corporate sponsors.

Jean Smith, Rusty Rooster Farm & Vintage of Portville, NY stated, “I received a lot of positive feedback for my business, many sales.  A few folks have expressed interested in custom pieces.  The home show was an amazing opportunity to get our business name out there.”  Rusty Rooster Farm & Vintage is a new company located in the former building of Anderson Pattern Works.  They do custom milling and woodwork: bars, tables, mantles and more including raw wood slabs.  The company also does vintage: Sales, restoration & salvage.

The vendors at the Home Show were enrolled in a contest for “Best Booth” based on neatness, presentation, props, information, and theme-related.  The theme this year is “enchanted mountain living.”  Winners for 2019 Greater Olean Area Home Show go to BEST USE OF THEME – VanDyke Agency of Great Valley, NY; BEST OVERALL BOOTH – Cutco Visitors Center of Olean. Congratulations to both and thanks to the judges for their time and coordination.  Prizes are discounts on 2020’s Greater Olean Area Home Show rental.

"The nice weather created the lower numbers overall for the weekend.  However, those in attendance at the show were great leads for the vendors,” stated, Meme K. Yanetsko, COO GOACC.   Renovations that were finished in 2018 for that show were a welcome again this year.  Visitors were treated to a separate demonstration area, inside one of the party rooms at the center.  The demos all appeared to have many in attendance due to this separated space.  Also, the concrete flooring through out the center had a softer material place on top durable for ice skates to walk throughout the center, but very accommodating to all the visitors.  And lastly, the restrooms in the main lobby — obviously aged and well used, the bathrooms both saw updated facilities.

Jeff Furash, Burning Asphalt Sauces/Twisted Vine Gardens of Forestville, added, “I agree with the great leads coming from the attendees at the home show.  Sales on 2019 Friday were up higher than in 2018 and Saturday 2019 was only $7 short of matching 2018.”  He added, “We appreciate all the work that the Chamber does for the vendors – organizing the home show, creating a great atmosphere and of course, sales of our products!”

The winner of the Raymour & Flanigan Furniture Gift Card at value of $300 was Brenda Havernick of Cheektowaga, NY; Home Depot of Olean second prize of NEXGrill 5-burner grill went to Denny Bloss of Port Allegany, PA, and third prize also donated by Home Depot of Olean a wheelbarrow full of gardening supplies was Crystal Geise of Portville, NY.
