The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce joins the entire community in mourning the death of Eric Garvin, an indefatigable volunteer, not only for our organization, but for so many others in the area. A former president of the GOACC board and its long-time fiscal mentor, Eric also served many years on the Olean Area City School District’s Board of Education, including a term as its president. At his death, Eric was serving as the treasurer of the Executive Board of GOACC.

Eric never met a volunteer opportunity he didn’t welcome; he was at his happiest when with his family and with the people of the community. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his profession, and his community. His larger-than-life laugh brought smiles to many a conversation, and his keen fiscal prowess served not only the Chamber, but many other organizations as well.

Eric’s enduring legacy will be his love of family and community, and his unwavering courage in the face of his physical challenges over the years.

Please keep Eric and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He will be deeply missed.
